UAE Wants To Be Reached To Peace, Trump Called Israel Delayed Capturing West Bank

This agreement is considered to end Israel’s annexation of the Palestinian territories.

US President Donald Trump said the leaders of Israel and the United Arab Emirates had made a peace agreement. He called the deal a full normalization of relations and considered it a historic diplomatic breakthrough. CNN reported, Israel and the UAE are planning to exchange embassies. The agreement will make the UAE the third Middle Eastern country to open diplomatic ties with Israel after Egypt and Jordan.

“This agreement is a significant step towards building a more peaceful, secure and prosperous Middle East,” Trump said. “It will be known as the Abraham Accord,” Trump said of the agreement.

Name of the agreement was obtained by Trump from the US Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman. The name was chosen to refer to the figure of Abraham or Abraham who was the father of the three major religions, namely Judaism, Christianity and Islam. “I want it to be called the Donald J Trump Accord but I just don’t think the press will understand that,” said Trump with a laugh. Trump also said that this agreement would make Israel temporarily suspend its planned annexation of the West Bank.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas firmly rejected the agreement. Through his spokesman, Abu Rudeineh, Abbas declared this a “betrayal of Jerusalem, Al Aqsa and the Palestinian cause.” The Palestinian Authority official even stated that he was not aware of any peace agreement between Israel and the UAE. “No. We were blinded. This is a total sales intrigue,” said veteran negotiator Hanan Ashrawi.
