Minister of Religion Fachrul Razi stated that the management of halal certification in the future will not only rely on the fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council. Fachrul explained that halal certification since 1988 has been carried out by MUI. With the issuance of Law Number 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantee which mandates the establishment of a Halal Product Guarantee Agency, halal fatwas are no longer issued only by MUI but also Islamic organizations. Free Halal Certification for SMEs
To accelerate the facilitation of halal certification, 10 ministries and state agencies signed a memorandum of cooperation at the Ministry of Religion on Thursday, August 13, 2020. There are 7,163 Halal Certification Registrants
Head of the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH) Sukoso said that from 17 October 2019 to 12 August 2020, there were 7,163 registrants for halal certification. The number consists of 5,085 registrants for SME entrepreneurs, 1,198 registrants for medium enterprises, and 880 registrants for large businesses. To date, there have been 296 halal certificates issued by BPJPH and submitted to business actors from all over Indonesia. Sukoso hopes that the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Religion and the nine related K / Ls will accelerate the halal certification process, especially for SMEs.
This cooperation will take the form of policy, program and budget support, as well as socialization and assistance for halal certification. Included in the scope of this cross-K / L cooperation is the process of financing the processing of halal certification, data collection, coordination of the development of UKM players.
